Geo O'Brien Statue            16x20

George O’Brien graduated from Big Spring High School, went to the Korean War with the Marines, and was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Eisenhower.  This is a picture of a statue in his honor on the grounds of the Veteran’s Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.

In its December 2003 issue, Texas Highways Magazine published this picture as the Third Place winner of a state holiday photo contest.  This line of lighted poinsettias on the Cosden Lake Dam has been enlarged each year since that time to make an awesome sight along Highway 87 at Christmastime.

This picture of the building of the First Christian Church of Big Spring was taken to help promote the 125th Anniversary of the church.  The building was built in 1948, but the congregation claims to be the oldest church in Big Spring.

 Howard County Youth Horsemans Club,
Judson Jenkins puts a perfect loop over a steer.

Signal Mountain and the Twin Sisters  12x28
Date:  Summer 2003
Much of West Texas was under an ocean in geological ages past.  The limestone cap that tops these three buttes southwest of Big Spring was a part of the sediment on the ocean floor.  Eroded soil and rock was washed to the Gulf of Mexico over time.
