Our float for this year, and for most of the other reunions, I
understand, was on a truck provided by Cathey Construction Company. In
fact, every year, the Catheys do this for two or three classes, always without
charging a dime. They provided a truck and driver, and a
backup pickup and driver for safety, for at least three hours. They have
not even estimated the cost to them, but having rented equipment reasonably
similar in my own life as a contractor, I estimate it as $300. If missed
that by $100 either way, it is still a great gift to us.
So the class presented them with a framed picture of THE BIG SPRING like
the ones that were shown at the reunion, and which can be viewed at the bottom
of my homepage on www.bondwebs.com.
Jack Cathey graduated at Coahoma High. Katie was one of our cheerleaders,
and has headed up the reunions of the class of 1949 for all of recorded history
now. She is very active in support of our association.
Impressed with this gift, which they say is the first thank you gift they have
ever received for this service, they sent us a card. Below is a scan of
the outside and the contents of the inside typed in.
Thanks, Jack and Katie!

The printed text inside the card:
"To let you know how much we appreciate your thoughtfulness."
The Catheys' handwritten note inside the card:
"Thank you for the lovely picture of the Spring - The Class of
"52" is a very thoughtful group. The picture is hanging in our
office."
